Compass Point Leadership
Barry has over twenty years of experience in the computer systems engineering field. His career started in the private sector in 1987 as a systems engineer, designing and supporting field computer systems for a civil engineering firm. In 1993, Barry accepted a job in the local county government providing systems engineering support for their IT systems. In 1999, Barry joined the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as a contractor for the Office of Special Intelligence; he was then hired by the DEA in 2001 to lead the Office of Special Intelligence System Engineering and Development unit. In July 2010, Barry was promoted to Associate Deputy Assistant Administrator (Chief of Operations, Engineering and Development of the Office of Information Systems). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering from George Mason University.
Senior Solutions Architect
Carl has over twenty years of experience building enterprise scale software development projects. His first international project was a production control system he wrote for Toyota in 1999 that tracked Just In Time (JIT) production of critical engine componts. He led teams developing systems for the Department of Commerce, House of Representatives, and State Department. In 2002 he joined the Drug Enforcement Administration as a contractor where he architechted a mission crictial system utilized by over 10,000 users world wide. In 2011 he became a government employee as a Unit Chief at DEA for the Concorde .NET project. Carl led the Sofware development section with eight teams of developers working in paralell on over 50 Concorde applications. He is currently working towards a Master’s Degree in IT Software Engineering at University of Maryland Universtiy College.
